Vineyard Christian School is located about 50 km from Johannesburg in the Gauteng province of South Africa. It is situated on farmland donated by the farmer specifically for the school's use. The school has plenty of land on which to grow.
Vineyard is an English-medium primary school providing education to around 100 pre-school through grade 5 children from the surrounding area. The school started in 2006 with classes up to Grade 1 but plans to expand to to Grade 7 by 2012. The farm-house buildings which housed the school proved inadequate for the growing needs so application was made to Classrooms for Africa for a grant to help fund the construction of 6 classrooms. Building materials used were brick, timber trusses and concrete roof tiles. ACSI Western Canada schools provided funds for the grant.
Funds were disbursed through ACSI South Africa. The project was completed just in time for the start of the new school year in January 2011.
