Location:
Kalaya Training Centre is situated in the Kalangala district of Uganda on Bugala, one of Uganda’s Ssese Islands in Lake Victoria. Although the district is known for its beautiful white beaches, fishing, variety of bird life and lush forests, It has one of the highest HIV/AIDS rates in Uganda. The school drop-out rate for girls is also very high.

School information:
The school is operated under the auspices of Windows of Hope International Children’s Ministry which is committed to “improving the lives of orphan and vulnerable young people.”  The centre works with girls who are orphans or girls who have been rescued from the terrorist army operating for years in the north of the country which used them as slave. The training centre aims to equip the girls, who have been unable to complete formal education, with skills to enable them to become self-reliant. The program is Biblically based, and provides mentoring support, life skills development and vocational training for these young women including tailoring and catering.
