Location:
Kingsway Christian School is located just north-east of the city of Johannesburg in Gauteng Province, South Africa. Currently the school is operating out of very inadequate facilities on the grounds of a local church not far from the sprawling informal settlement of Zandspruit.

School information:
The school was started in 1986 by a group of concerned citizens who were concerned about the number of street children in the area who were not receiving an education. Their initial facility was a private garage, but the church then offered them accommodation for a limited time. Today over 250 children attend the Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 7 school, most students coming from the informal settlement. Enrolment growth has put pressure on the school move from their current location. Land has been purchased on which to build a permanent school facility on the edge of the informal settlement. The existing buildings that were on the land are used to accommodate the older students who have no home in the settlement. Plenty of land remains to build the school.
