Location:
New Hope Centre school is located in the village of Soweto, Lodwar, in Turkanaland, north-west Kenya. The school is an outreach of Share International and operated by missionaries there. The centre rescues street children in the town and seeks to address their spiritual, physical and educational needs. Some of the children have been living on the garbage dumps and in other desperate situations (see Moses' previous home in image at lower right).

School information:
The school at New Hope Centre seeks to offer Christian education to children from pre-school through grade 12. It educates the children currently living at the centre. At present the school has 24 students, but expects to expand as the project is established and include local children who have no school to attend. The project is in its second year of operation.

Building applied for:
Application has been made to Classrooms for Africa for a grant to help fund the construction of two dormitories and an education centre. Each dormitory will measure 650 sq. ft.The education centre will measure 2590 sq. ft. Cement blocks, timber and iron roof sheeting will be used in the construction.

Cost:
An estimated $22,000 will be needed, $6,000 for each dormitory and $10,000 for the education centre. Cost per sq. ft. = $8.50

Funds will be disbursed through Share International's headquarters in Los Angeles, USA.
